ABOUT US

Imagine your life without sight, our primal sense. Wouldn't it be a whole different world? A much difficult world?
Today, lakhs of people in India and the world suffer from corneal blindness. They are held back from something we cannot imagine our life without. What we take for granted, can change someone's life.
With a simple process, of eye donation, a corneal blind can see again through a surgical procedure called corneal transplantation.
Our organisation aims at spreading awareness and increasing the rate of eye donation today. We help people by getting them to sign pledge forms and giving the necessary details of the much required, however, the much ignored, life changing process. Protecting sight is our biggest goal.
Vision after your death is the biggest magic one could ask for. Well, we are bringing this dream to life.
THIS, IS THE BEST GIFT YOU CAN GIVE SOMEONE.
IT IS YOU, WHO HOLDS THE POWER TO CHANGE SOMEONE'S LIFE FOREVER!

FAQ

Who can be an eye donor?

Anyone can be an eye donor irrespective of age, sex, or blood group. Only persons suffering from AIDS, Jaundice, rabies, syphilis, tetanus, and septicaemia are considered unfit for donation. Hypertension, diabetes, nearsightedness or farsightedness does not stop a person from donating their eyes.

Is it necessary to transport the donor to the hospital after death?

No, Eye Banks have personnel who will come to the donors' house to remove the eyes. The procedure takes approximately 15-20 minutes.

Is there any delay in funeral arrangements?

No. Eye tissue is procured within hours of death, so families may proceed with funeral arrangements as planned. Great care is taken to preserve the appearance of the donor. No one will be able to notice that eyes have been donated. After the eyeball has been removed, a transparent eye cap is placed in the eye in place of the eyeball.

How can I become a donor?

The most important action you can take is to tell your family and legal representative. Most states now require that families be offered the option of donation when a loved one dies. Families may give consent for donation. It is most helpful if they know how you feel in advance. A donor card can serve as an indication to your family, your legal representative and hospitals of your intention to be an eye donor.

Are there religious conflicts with regard to eye donation?

Donation is a gift of life or sight to others. As such, eye, organ and tissue donations are consistent with the beliefs and attitudes of major religions.

Will the donor's family pay or receive any fees?

It is illegal to sell human eyes, organs and tissues. All the costs will be borne and absorbed by the eye bank.
